Quite Similar Means and Ends

Many people assume political ideology is a clear line which is neatly contained within two distinct extremes. The far left which contains oppressive Communism and its mirrored counterpart tyrannous right wing Fascism. However, I would contend partisan ideology is not a line and but a circle. Proceed too distantly in either direction you arrive to nearly the same place. While left and right wing political moderation exists at the top of the circle the extreme left and right eventually meet at the bottom. Unjust right and left wing governments and groups undertake similar methods to achieve control. Censorship, disinformation, social isolation, and shaming any who object to acquire political status. The deceptions used in the last century by formerly Communist Russia and Fascist Germany were noticeably similar. Using the state to demonize minority groups and hunt them down was a method favored by each regime when it served their goals…

A Pew research center study of “cancel culture” attributed nearly double the amount of Democrats believed online “accountability” was justified. “Democrats are far more likely than Republicans to say that, in general, calling people out on social media for posting offensive content holds them accountable...but only 32% of Democrats – Believe this type of action generally punishes people who didn’t deserve it.”i A majority advocated for such methods despite that some undeserving Democrats would likely suffer in the ideological crossfire. Several corporations have been moralizing to customers and using corporate power to censor information and influence politics in the name of better practices for quite some time. These corporations have altered their business practices to use social issues for influencing potential customers, limiting worker behavior and thought, and shaping legal policies in a psychological attempt to make customers believe a corporation has moral ethics or is worthy of emulation. This ridiculous proposition can be unmasked with every corporate spending report, do they spend most of their earnings on genuine attempts to better society for all people or do they plan events and reward loyal advocates for paying lip service to their mask of morality? Are they prone to extravagant displays of “benevolence” with media coverage and every possible manipulation of the event to advantage or do they just invest within communities without all the desired but unnecessary back patting and victory laps?
